Episode 14: Layla AbdelRahim on Questioning Social Narratives

Layla AbdelRahimLayla AbdelRahim is an anthropologist by training, and has lived, worked and traveled around the world. She speaks widely and has written two non-fiction books, Wild Children - Domesticated Dreams, and Children’s Literature, Domestication, and Social Foundation. Her books and other work actively critique the foundational social narratives that support a human-centered view of the natural world and that compel people to perpetrate and acquiesce to oppression. *Note: Layla misspoke at ~minute 30 of the recording. She said “in civilization we have a whole range of symbiotic systems…”, when she meant to say “in wilderness we have a whole range of symbiotic systems…”.
