Layla AbdelRahim is an anthropologist by training, and has lived, worked and traveled around the world. She speaks widely and has written two non-fiction books, Wild Children - Domesticated Dreams, and Children’s Literature, Domestication, and Social Foundation. Her books and other work actively critique the foundational social narratives that support a human-centered view of the natural world and that compel people to perpetrate and acquiesce to oppression. *Note: Layla misspoke at ~minute 30 of the recording. She said “in civilization we have a whole range of symbiotic systems…”, when she meant to say “in wilderness we have a whole range of symbiotic systems…”.
