Episode 38: Food Waste in the United States, with Dana Gunders

Dana Gunders is a senior scientist with the Natural Resources Defense Council who has studied and written extensively about food waste. She authored The Waste Free Kitchen Handbook in 2015 to help educate consumers on how to reduce food waste, and the report Wasted: How America is Losing 40 Percent of Its Food from Farm to Fork to Landfill. In this episode she and Eric talk about how she became interested in food waste, how the price of food influences people’s mindfulness about food waste, strategies for reducing waste in the kitchen, and advice for students interested in pursuing careers in reducing food waste, among other things.
